Introduction
The following list provides links to academic and research libraries’ collection development policies for Women and Gender Studies available on the Web. Many types of libraries are represented here, from small liberal arts colleges to large research libraries, including libraries in the United States as well as Canada and other countries.
Libraries approach the articulation of collection development policies in different and instructive ways. The Collections Committee has identified components common across many of these policy statements. We have created a template/checklist for consideration by librarians seeking to develop or enhance collection policy statements for Women and Gender Studies.
This list was compiled in August 2004, updated in February 2008, and updated again in July 2011 through an extensive search of the World Wide Web. Suggestions for additions to the list are encouraged by the WGSS Collections Committee. Please send corrections, updates, and additions to Susan Wood at swood1@memphis.edu.
