Since 1969, members of the Social Responsibilities Round Table (SRRT) have
worked to make the American Library Association (ALA) more democratic. They
have also worked to promote a more progressive agenda. In doing so, SRRT has
provided a home within ALA for progressive librarians, library workers, and
supporters who agree to promote social responsibility as a core value of
librarianship.
The SRRT Newsletter, in publication since 1969, has been a constant source of
alternative viewpoints on libraries and their role in society.
SRRT Listserv
Stay informed about the activities of SRRT. In addition to the SRRT Newsletter, SRRT also
maintains three listservs through ALA.
SRRTAC-L is the official discussion list, which provides SRRT members with a
forum for posting activities, information, and news of interest to SRRT. All
SRRT members may participate in this list, and anyone wishing to follow the
discussion may subscribe as a read-only member.
SRRTMEM is an unrestricted email list for announcements from ALA and SRRT.
Announcements come from the SRRT Coordinator, Treasurer, Newsletter Editor, or
the Director of OLOS. The purpose is to keep SRRT members and other interested
people informed as to SRRT's activities and to provide information about how to
get involved.
To subscribe to either of the above lists, go to the ALA Mailing List Service
interface, at http://lists.ala.org/ and
enter "SRRT" in the search box.
SRRT-ACCOM provides SRRT Action Council members with the opportunity to
communicate between face-to-face business meetings and facilitates sharing
information about budgeting, upcoming agenda items, and other information which
will help our business meetings flow more smoothly. Membership is limited to
the SRRT Action Council, but any non-list member may follow the discussion by
going to http://lists.ala.org/wws/info/srrt-accom
and selecting "Archives" from the list on the left side.
