Progressive Librarian: A Journal for Critical Studies and Progressive Politics in Librarianship

Submission Guidelines

Articles, book reviews, bibliographies, reports, and documents that explore progressive perspectives on librarianship and information issues are the focus for future issues of Progressive Librarian.

Please submit electronic files via e-mail, as Rich Text Format (.rtf) or Microsoft Word (.doc).

Prints and digital images also welcome, if digital provide 300 dpi grayscale TIFF (.tiff) files no larger than 5x7 inches.

Use your favorite citation style for in-text (parenthetical) citations, footnotes, endnotes, as well as the bibliography (Chicago Manual of Style & Turabian), works cited (MLA), and references (APA & Harvard) sections. Please be consistent using the style of choice. Manuscripts with inconsistent citation style will be returned to prospective contributors.

We reserve the right to edit all submissions. Please be aware that we publish under a Creative Commons license. Your submission implies a release of the rights necessary for us to publish under the Creative Commons license: Attribution, Non-Commercial, No-Derivatives 2.0.

Peer Review

Article submissions to Progressive Librarian are reviewed  by each member of its Editorial Board. It is, therefore, peer-reviewed by the scholars, experts, and activists on the Editorial Board, a body constructed so as to constitute an effective reviewing body to shape the journal and maintain its quality. Manuscript submissions which are outside the expertise of any of the Editorial Board are sent to expert readers for evaluation and comment to be referred back to the journal editors for acceptance, rejection, and/or revision. We reserve all rights to edit all submissions.
